Saturdays at the MET / Sábados en el MET

I vividly remember my first semester at the Fashion Institute of Technology. I was ecstatic about attending a fashion school and learning about marketing!

Fast forward a month later and I was totally over fashion, and although I did get an A in my first and only fashion class, I quickly learned that this industry was not really my thing. I still have many friends working in fashion, and I even did my senior internship at Nina Shoes, but I just haven't found my fit in the fashion industry and I am unsure if I ever will (never say never, right?).

All that said, I can’t deny that I am absolutely fascinated about the history of fashion and the unique way it represents specific times in history, including now. This last Saturday me and my beloved FIT friends visited the MET for an interesting exhibition called Death Becomes Her which explores the development and cultural implications of mourning attires and fashions of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Yup, you read that right, mourning attires and it was so worth it.

After the MET we took the crosstown back to the Upper West Side, better known as the Upper Best Side, and had lunch at one of my favorite chains in the city 5 Napkin Burger. Yes for the MET, gluten free buns and guacamole on burgers!
