Graduación
It seems crazy to realize that a full year has gone by, just like that. Since I graduated a year earlier than I was supposed to, the idea of being done with college didn’t seem real until I saw I had no more classes to take on my record, which was uncomfortably close to the actual commencement day.
Graduating college is a very rewarding experience, but it is also a time of deep changes, tons of "see you soon" and a new beginning that more often than not seems very daunting.
The truth is, the real world doesn’t really start to kick in the minute we move our tassels from one side to the other, it starts when we decide we found something we want to do for a long time (because forever doesn't apply anymore to our careers) and we are determined to work really hard to be great at it. It takes a lot of courage to get out there and show the world what we are made of, but it takes even more guts to believe in projects and ideas that are uncertain but make us happy, and to always try to do good and honest work, no matter what we do.
I hope college taught you how to deal with the “real world” but that is also taught you to dream and be mindful of others, their cultures and their experiences. Be open to change and be willing to work hard. Those two mentalities will take you exactly where you need to be.
Congratulations Class of 2015. You freaking made it!
Parece una locura pensar que ya ha pasado un año entero frente mis ojos. Como me gradué con un año de anticipación, la idea de haber terminado con la universidad no fue real hasta que vi que no quedaba ya ninguna clase por tomar, lo cual fue super cerca del acto de graduación.
Graduarse de la universidad es un momento de mucho orgullo y felicidad, pero también es un tiempo de cambios muy profundos, muchos "hasta luego" y un nuevo comienzo que casi siempre suele ser increíblemente intimidante.
La verdad es que, el "mundo real" no comienza a realizarse desde el momento en que movemos la borla de nuestro birrete de un lado a otro, sino que en realidad comienza cuando nos decidimos a encontrar una profesión que queremos ejercer por mucho tiempo (porque eso de para siempre ya no existe) y estamos dispuestos a trabajar para ser buenos en ella. Toma mucho coraje salir al mundo y demostrar de lo que somos capaces, pero cuesta tener todavía más valentía creer en nuestros proyectos e ideas que no son concretas pero nos hacen felices, y tratar de siempre hacer un trabajo bueno y honesto no importa lo que hacemos.
Espero que la universidad te haya enseñado cómo manejarte en el "mundo real" pero que también te haya enseñado a soñar y a ser consciente de los demás, sus culturas y sus experiencias. Mantente siempre abierto a los cambios y a estar siempre dispuesto a trabajar duro. Esas dos mentalidades te ayudarán a llegar exactamente a donde debes estar.
