Let Them See Us
The immigrant experience is not an easy one, and on top of it all, when Latino professionals enter the workforce they often encounter one awful problem: not a lot of people look like them, speak like them or think like them. They don't have a community of peers to share their food, their language and their heritage with, and that's a serious issue.
One of the reasons I started the events tab is to encourage more Latinos to attend networking events and meet people that will expose them to new opportunities and career paths, but without companies making an effort to notice us, we are going nowhere.
Now, not all companies think this way, yet there's still an immense gap and it is our job to fix it, and thankfully, there are people willing to change this.
We deserve a chance. We are prepared and eager to learn and it's our job to raise our voices and tell companies, hey, WE ARE HERE.

La experiencia del inmigrante no es una fácil, y como si no fuera poco, cuando los profesionales Latinos entran a las compañías americanas se encuentran con un gran problema: no hay muchas personas que se vean como ellos, que se comuniquen como ellos y que piensen como ellos. Lamentablemente no tienen una comunidad de compañeros de trabajo con los cuales pueden compartir sus tradiciones, idioma y cultura, y esto es un serio problema.
Una de las razones por la cuales comencé la sección de eventos es porque quiero que más latinos profesionales comiencen a ir a eventos de networking para conocer personas que los puedan ayudar a avanzar profesionalmente y a descubrir nuevas vocaciones y oportunidades, pero si más compañías no participan en este diálogo estamos en nada.
Ahora, es importante decir que no todas las compañías piensan igual. Aun así, existe una inmensa separación entre los números y es nuestro deber cambiarlos, y para nuestra suerte, no estamos solos en esta misión.
Nos merecemos un chance. Estamos preparados y ansiosos por aprender, y es ahora nuestro trabajo unir nuestras voces y decir, hey, ESTAMOS AQUÍ.
